Hunger strike - ITS issue.

The first day of the hunger strike called by the Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations demanding immediate repatriation of non-optee ITS officers from BSNL to DOT or perpetual deputation for all employees as is proposed for ITS, was a big success. In all centres the hunger-strike was participated by many comrades from all unions. In Delhi, the hunger strike was organised before the Corporate office. All India leaders and circle leaders participated.

Similar reports have been received from many centres. The hunger strike will continue for one week.

HMT - ITI

Hindustan machine Tools (HMT) is gradually shifting to manufacture of defence products. For some time the PSU was on loss and had to rent/sell its land etc. But now they have started producing defence products like weapons, missile parts etc. and may come out from the difficult times.  ITI, which was also in similar difficulties has turned to defence equipments in the past few months.

Let both these PSUs, which have been the torch-bearers of growth in India, regain their past glory early. My Best Wishes for their early recovery and flourish!

NALCO strike

The 25,000 and odd workers and officers of National Aluminium Company (NALCO) went on a one day strike on 20th October opposing the decision of the govenment to disinvest  additional 12.5% % of its share. The strike was successful in all its offices/factories. The call was given jointly by the central trade unions.

My hearty congratulations to the workers and officers of the NALCO for their militant struggle against disinvestment and the anti-PSU policies of the government.

India lags behind world in health and hunger

Healthcare - World bank Report

It is a shame for the Indian rulers that the country is far behind in removing hunger. As per the World Bank reports, India ranks 65 in a total of 79 countries in terms of hunger measurements.

In case of child nutrition, India is the last but one out of 129 countries, as per the same World bank report. Only one small country, which most of us might not heard even, Timor Leste, is the last.

In the same way, 36% of Indian women of childbearing age are undernourished compared with only 16% in 23 Sub-Saharan countries.

The India government should hang its head in shame. Even after 65 years of its independence it had not cared the health of its people. The amount for health is being reduced in % every time. The sector, like higher education, is left to the mercy of the private sharks, who mint money in billions and millions by making them business and maximum profits.

This should change. The Indian Government should be shaken up and made to change its policy and take care of the health of the common people.

Will change of ministers save or give a new face to the Govt.? NO!

change of ministers

Some tainted and ineffective ministers are being changed today to give a better face to the government, as per the media reports. S.M.Krishna, External minister and some others are being sent out. But will this give a better face to the government?

The answer is an emphatic NO! Many of the present ministers are involved in mega scams, but they have not been asked to resign or shunted out. The government is not prepared to make any enquiry against them. CBI is being made to act according to the requirement of the ruling party and the saying the it is ” Congress Bureau of Investigation” seems to have some meaning.

It is clear that the present change will not clear the image of the government. Many of the tainted ministers are still in important positions. The Prime Minister himself is in the shadow of corruption.

Sukenderpal murder

Though it is more than 6 days after the ghastly murder of Com. Sukenderpal Singh, District Secretary, BSNLEU has been murdered in the GM office, neither the GM GHZ or othe culprits have been arrested so far. It seems that strong pressure is being put on the police and the state authorites to save the culprits. The Ghaziabad District workers are on strike since the murder. The UP(W) circle employees have already gone on oneday strike.

It is in this context that the CHQ BSNLEU has decided to go on one day strike on 16th November demanding immediate arrest and suspension of the culprits and also impartial enquiry and rigorous punishment to the culprits.

We have to ensure that the strike is a complete success.  All other  unions are being contacted for a united agitation.

Murder - Sukenderpal Singh

The Central Secretariat of BSNL Employees Union, which met today at New Delhi has called upon the BSNL workers to go on one day strike on 16th November 2012 demanding immediate arrest and suspension of  Adesh Kumar, GM Ghaziabad and other culprits who are responsible for the cold-blooded murder of Com. Sukenderpal Singh, District Secretary BSNLEU Ghaziabad in the GM office itself.

The Central Secretariat has also decided to organise telegram campaign to the Communications Minister and Chief Minister, U.P., demanding immediate action against the culprits.  ( The details will be put in the BSNLEU website.)

It is for the first time that such a heinous crime has been committed in DOT/BSNL. This has to be condemned in every way and the culprits should be immediately arrested and proceeded upon. There are many vested interests and powers behind those committed this ghastly murder and putting all pressures on the authorities not to take any action. hence it is of utmost importance that sustained and strong actions are necessary on our part.
