There is a very happy and inspiring news from Pakistan. On the 105th birthday of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the well-known Shadman Chowk in the city of Lahore has been renamed as “Bhagat Singh Chowk” in memory of the great martyr. The Lahore Jail, where Shaheed Bhagat Singh was interned which was situated there was demolished, and a colony by name Shadman Colony was built. The Shadman Chowk was constructed in the place where Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his comrades Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev were hanged on 23rd March 1931, when Bhagat Singh was only 23 years old. There has been demand for a long time that the chowk be renamed in honour of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
This year the Pakistan Government has taken a favourable decision and the Shadman Chowk has been renamed as Bhagat Singh Chowk. There is also a demand that the birthplace of Bhagat Singh, Chak No. 105, Lyallpur Bange in Faislabad District be converted in to a Bhagat Singh Museum.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Amar Rahe! Red salute to Shaheed Bhat Singh!
