DA for CGE

The Union Government today hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) by 7 per cent, benefiting its 80 lakh employees and pensioners and costing the exchequer an additional Rs 7,408 crore annually.
The hike will be effective from July 1, 2012, and the employees would be entitled for arrears from this date.
The hike in the DA from 65 per cent to 72 per cent will cost the exchequer Rs 4,939 crore for the remaining part of the current financial year. The annual expense on account of the DA increase has been estimated at Rs 7,408 crore, says an official release.
The decision, which was approved by the Union Cabinet, will benefit about 50 lakh employees and 30lakh pensioners.

Money does not grow on trees  said  Prime Minister Manmohan Singh  in his recent televised speech, pointing out to the necessity of implementing anti-people reforms.

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat  ridiculed the statement and stated that in fact that the  “Corporate houses are plucking money from trees of favourable central policies”.Yes, this is the real fact. But not only corporate houses, but corrupt politicians also.

Scrap the ongoing reform process – CPI(M)

Reforms - CPI(M)

Alleging that economic reforms initiated by Manmohan Singh during his stint as finance minister had “plunged the India economy in a severe crisis,” the CPI(M) today demanded scrapping of the ongoing reform process in the larger national interest.
“The reform measures kicked off by Prime Minister Singh in his earlier role as the finance minister has failed to bring about desired improvement in the economy which has instead plunged into deeper crisis,” CPI(M) politburo member S Ramchandra Pillai and central secretariat member Hannan Mollah told reporters.
Under the circumstances, the UPA government will be well advised to scrap the reforms process altogether in the larger national interest, they said.
The CPI(M) leaders claimed the Centre had allowed 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail, hiked diesel price and rationed subsidised LPG cylinders under pressure from the US and alleged the government was oblivious to the plight of the people who were already bearing brunt of price rise for the better part of the UPA rule.
There is no other way but to oppose and fight against these anti-worker policies.

AIC BSNLEU - Punjab

Along with other CHQ leaders I have reached Ludhiana by tonight to participate in the All India Conference of BSNL Employees Union to be held from 25th September. The Central Executive Committee meeting will be held on 24th September.

Though the AIC is starting only day after tomorrow, a large number of delegates/observers have already arrived. Now for about 4 days it will be  serious discussion in the AIC about the issues facing BSNL and its workers. It is also a time to meet so many comrades through out India and talk with them.

An American Model in the offing

Americal model - PM's speech

The two addresses , one to the nation day before yesterday and one in an international conference yesterday,  the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has clearly expressed his line for aggressive reforms, corporate favour company laws and also labour reforms in the same way. It seems that he is definitely pointing towards an American mode of economy.

This is dangerous. The American model has resulted in 99% wealth concentrated in the hands of 1% corporates and financiers, as the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters have exposed. India is not America and that model will not suit India. The result of the American model has already resulted in austerity measures in Euro countries and their economies are crumbling. It is only the MNCs and corporates who have benefited.

India does not want american model. We want an Indian model suited to the conditions of India.Throw American model in the Arabian Sea.

BSNL is completing 12 years of service to the people on this 1st October. BSNL is loved by the people who wants it to improve and provide a better service to them.

This is one occasion when the workers and the management together has to make all out efforts to strengthen BSNL and provide the best service to the nation. The unions/associations of the workers have an important role in the matter. The Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations are continuing with the ‘Customer Delight Year’ in this context. Each and every worker can try towards this end.

AIC BSNLEU - Ludhiana

The delegates and observers of BSNLEU from all over India have started their journey to Ludhiana to attend the All India Conference of BSNL Employees Union. They include comrades from Kerala to J&K and from NE to Gujarat and Rajasthan. Except for the delegates from a few states nearby Punjab, most of the delegates from other states will have to pass through Delhi to reach Ludhiana.
Comrades from A&N have already reached Delhi and started for Punjab. Same with many comrades from T.Nadu. Many of these comrades come to the CHQ and also visit the ‘K.G.Bose Bhawan’, the union’s own building. All of them are happy to see that the buiding is furnsihed and ready. Some comrades are also staying there.

By tomorrow and day after tomorrow, most of the delegates/observers will reach Ludhiana. It will be a herculean task for the Reception Committee to make all arrangements for the thousands of delegates/visitors. But I am sure Punjab comrades will not fail on any account. For the last one year they have been preparing for the same.

General Secretary Com.P.Abhimanyu has already reached Ludhiana and is supervising the arrangement.

Further attacks on people in the pipeline

anti-people policies

The prices have been rocketting for the last more than one year. Except the rich, all are compelled to tighten their belts to manage the family budget. Continued increase of price on petrol, cooking gas, diesel etc. resulting in further increase in the price of all essential commodities like grains, vegetables, stationaries etc. had made the life of the people miserable.

The anger of the people has been expressed through the Bharat bandh and Protest Day observed on 20th September. But instead of considering the demands of the workers for a roll down of the new anti-people measures, the government is proposing further attacks on the livelyhood of the people. The diesel price is proposed to be deregularised and will be allowed the market to fix the prices. FDI is going to be increased in all sectors.

At the same time, the government is proposing further subsidies to the corporates, allowing the Banks to liberalise loans to them as also making the land acquisition rules more favourable to the big business.

More burden on the aam admi and all subsidies to the corporates!
