After the recession of 2007 and its continuous effects on the world economy, it is stated that economists all over the world have started once again looking in to the writings of Karl Marx and specially the Volumes of Capital. The sales of the books is reported to have been increased in the recent years.

The Capital Vol.! was first published on 17th August 1867, 145 years earlier. Even after about one and half centuries, Marx continues to be relevent.

Maintain Peace – call by CPI(M), Left Parties

New Delhi, August 16: The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M)  expresses concern at reports of people of North Eastern origin leaving from certain places where they are working or studying and returning to their home states.  Such movement has taken place from Bangalore and certain other places sparked off by rumours or alleged threats.
Immediate steps should be taken to assure the people of North Eastern origin of  their safety and security wherever they are residing.   The state governments and administration should take prompt measures for this.  The recent violence in the Bodoland territorial region in Assam has localized   reasons and any attempts to rouse feelings in other parts of the country should be firmly curbed.  The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) appeals to all sections of the people to foil any moves to disturb amity amongst the people and maintain unity and peace.

PIN CODE INTRODUCED 40 YEARS AGO

14 Tuesday Aug 2012

The introduction of the PIN code by the P&T Department in 1972 ( 15th August) was a great advancement for the transportation and delivery of the letters, telegrams etc.

The PIN code was arranged in such a way that the Postman / Sorter can immediately find out the state, the district/city and the area in the city/town.

But even after 40 years many people do not use it regularly. Noting the PIN code helps early transportation and delivery. Do not forget to put the PIN code in the address.

Independence Day of India and Pakistan

14 Tuesday Aug 2012

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in History

The end of the glorious and sustained war of independence was the division of India in to India and Pakistan. Both declared Independence but Pakistan on 14th and India on 15th August 1947. While all rejoiced in getting independence, both countries had to face the biggest migration of people from  one country to the other  the world has ever seen.Thousands of people might have been perished in the violence that continued.

India has grown financially, militarily and in so many ways. But the benefit has all gone to the rich and the powerful. The poor is becoming poorer, while the rich become richer.

On this Independence Day let us all try to strengthen  democracy as also social justice  to all.

The All India Conference of BSNL Employees Union, the recognised and representative union in BSNL for the last eight years, is scheduled to be held at Ludhiana, the industrial hub of Punjab, the Land of the Five Rivers. The dates are from 25 to 28 September, only about one and half-month.

The Reception Committee, led by the Circle President Com. R.L.Moudgil and Circle Secretary Com. Balbir Singh are making all preparations for conducting the AIC in a good atmosphere of convenient accommodation, tasty food etc.

One of the main topics of discussion will be how to improve the BSNL services and how to improve the financial viability of the company. The demands of the workers will also  be focussed.

Just like earlier AICs, this is also going to be a historic Conference.
