On the 72nd death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, I pay my homage and respects to the great poet, nobel-laureate and cultural giant.
Rabindra Sangeetha, with its poetical and musical melody has charmed people world over. But it is in Bengal, Rabindra sangeetha has become a way of life. Whether it is in a musical concert, conferences, in conversations or even while travelling in the train, you will be fully aware of the impact of the Rabindra Sangeetha all around you.
It is not only in W.Bengal, but in Bangladesh also, Rabindranath is an icon and if my memory is correct, just like the National Anthem ‘Janaganamana’ in India, the Bangladesh also has its national anthem ‘Amar Shonar Bangla’ written by Rabindranatha Tagore. The fact is that both these songs were written before the Independence since Tagore passed away before Independence.
He left a great heritage and message for India and the world.
National Song of Bangladesh is :-
” Oh aamaar Sonaar Bangla, aami Tomay Bhaalobaasi “”…. Written by Poet Rabindra Nath Tagore. Really it is a rare exemple in the entire world that National Songs of two countries, in Bengali, has been written by a same poet. Selection of National Song at Bangladesh, written by Kabiguru Rabindra Nath also brings a message for us that how a communal harmony between Hindu and Muslim as well as secularism was developed at East Pakistan, during 1970’s Civil War, when East Pakistan became an independent State by severing its tie from the then Pakistan, which was a theological state till then.
