It is a not a new matter that the government surrenders to the demand of the corporates, even if is against the interests of the country. The latest development in the telecom sector once again confirms this.
The government was in the process of taking action against the private companies who violated the licence conditions by providing 3G services in the circles where they do not have licences. The private companies protested. Now in the National telecom Policy 2012 (NTP 2012), the government has committed itself on the demand of the private telcos.
This surrender can be seen in the case of allotting bench price for 2G licences auction. The recommendations of a higher price is being reduced by the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 17,000 or so.
It is all being done in the name of reduced price for the people. But it never reaches the common people. It goes in to the coffers of the corporates only.
