Why we oppose VRS?
1. VRS is bad in theory and faile in pracice
2. Large scale removal of one lac employees will result in unsatisfactory service due to staff shortage
3. It is not actually VRS, but is CRS. Otherwise why should they mention the number they want to retrench through VRS?
4. After VRS, on the plea of staff shortage management will outsource most of the work.
5. VRS is to facilitate early privatisation.
6. Where is the money to the company for VRS which is posting loss already. If it is by loan from banks or loan from government, how the company will pay it back?
7. Workers will lose additional increments, promotion and higher salaray of the next wage revision and pension if they opt VRS. The loss will be heavy.
8. VRS is an attack on the workers.

Oppose and Defeat VRS, which is against the workers and BSNL
Why We Oppose VRS

If the unions in recognition (executive and non-executive) and others did strike whenever a bad decision/wrong decision/incorrect decision was taken by the management with the same vigor as they are opposing the VRS, BSNL would not have landed into this state.
Also, it is true that only 50% of the staff carryout their duties with sincerity and are the backbone of this mighty organisation. (Please forgive me for this statement of mine and I am sure many would subscribe to my views on this) Other 50% spend their time at offices and some of them are very active in playing local politics. If all the eimployees of this organisation work with fervor and zeal, there would not be any necessity for VRS or any other thing proposed by the management. However, the danger is that the real work force (skilled and hard working) may opt for VRS and that is something BSNL can not take at this moment. This is the only threat I foresee the VRS process. Ofcourse, it is my opinion and I do not represent any union or group on this opinion of mine.
Secondly, many (some) employees might want to opt out of the organisation if offered a chance. I think you should allow them to execute their wish. It is not wrong. We might oppose VRS in principle but should allow the employees to execute thier choice. They should have the freedom to decide their future and there should not be any objection to it from the unions existing in BSNL.
Let the management offer the VRS and let the unions do their part and allow the empoyees to choose what they wish to choose.
Oppose VRS but do not oppose employees opting for VRS.
I oppose VRS in total if there is a better way (a scientfic way) to deal with the present situation. I will not agree that we will just run into profits if we oppose VRS and bla bla bla.
Thanks Namboodirijee for providing this space to express my views.
