What is Happening in W.Bengal? Brutal Attacks on Democratic Rights.

18 Saturday Jun 2011

The situation in W.Bengal, after the victory of the Trinamool Congress, has drastically changed. From the moment the results have been announced, the Trinamool goondas have started brutal attack of the CPI(M) leaders, workers and sympathisers, attacking and ransacking the party and union offices, forcibly taking money from the people, harassing and raping women and so on.In short, the democratic rights are being attacked in a systematic way.
Since the Lok Sabha elections in 2009, in which the Trinamool got the upper hand a good majority of seats, till the assemble elections, 388 men and women, most of them belonging to the poorer and socially oppressed sections have been brutally killed by the Trinamool-Maoist combine. In some places congress also was part of the combine.
After the assembly elections announcement on 13th May 2011, in which Trinamool won, the attacks have increased. 12 CPI(M) leaders and 1 RSP leader have been killed in the first week after elections.Terror has been let loos.
Hundreds of CPI(M) offices have been attacked and ransacked and Trinamool flags put there. Trade Union and mass organisation offices are also attacked. Many people have been evicted from their homes. Women have been raped.Extortion is going on a large scale. The attack is mainly in those places where the Left have won.
The entire democratic movement in the country have to protest against these brutal attacks and killings. Democratic rights of the people have to be protected.

Rs. 11.65 crores, 98 kg gold and 307 kg silver was found in Yajur Mandir, the personal room of Satya Sai Baba who died recently. It was found when the room, which was closed after his death, was opened two days back. It may be that more money, gold etc. might be stashed in other places also.
Recently it has come out that yoga guru Ram Dev is having a financial empire of about Rs. 1,100 crore with so many companies in his and his disciples’ name as also a separate island somewhere in Europe. What was the assets of Chandraswami who was very powerful during the Indira Gandhi regime?

How so much wealth is accumulated with the god men? Is there any connection with black money? Or what else?

Rani Jhansi Bai, the heroine of the 1857 First War of Independance was killed on 17th June 1858 while defending her fort against the British attack.
The great revolt of 1857 brought in to focus great leaders who fought against the British imperialism. Bahadur Shah Safar was the nominal leader, being the Mogul Emperor. Nana Saheb, Tantia Topi, Jhansi Rani, Kunwar Singh of Bihar, Bakht Khan of DelhiKhan Bahadur Khan of Bareilly, Maulavi Ahamadullah Shah of Faizabad,Begum Hazrat Mahal and many other leaders rose to the occassion and led the revolt.Bahadur Shah Safer was taken prisioner and transported to Rangoon where he died in 1862.Most of the others were killed while fighting.
Rani Jhansi Bai was killed on 17th June along with her adopted prince while fighting against the British. Her heroism is still sung in many of the ballads by the local people.
1857 revolt was crushed. But it sowed the seeds of further revolt to free the country from the foreign yoke which reached victory on 15th August 1947.

The new scam has got the government unawares. In its draft report, CAG has pointed out the huge loss to the exchecquer in the oil exploration in KG6 field by the Reliance. The loss is not estimated, but may come to crores of rupees. The report is clear how the government had favoured the Reliance causing a huge loss to the Government.
2G scam, CWG scam and now KG scam – Can we call the governnment the Scam Government?

UPA II Government to the rescue of the private telcos.

17 Friday Jun 2011

The DOT has asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI ) to reconsider its recommendations to cancel the licenses of those companies who did not fulfil the licence obligations like rolling out the network etc. TRAI had earlier recommended cancellation of 69 licences of 5 copmanies for failure to roll out the net work.

The UPA II government has come to the rescue of the private operators as always. The cancellation of licences would have been a lesson to the private operators for violating the licence conditions. But NO! The government is fully on the side of the private companies even if they violate the lawas and rules blatantly. Hence this out of way support to them.

After several meetings of the drafting committee of the Lokpal Bill, the differences continue between the government and civil society members with regard to certain issues like including the Prime Minister, M.P.s etc. in the Bill. Reports in the press indicate that Anna Hazare may start a new fast from 16th August if the demands of the Civil Society members are not accepted.

maruti, maruti strike

The Maruti workers strike at Manesar plant has been called off after the management agreed to reinstate all the 11 leaders of the union who were retrenched following the formation of the new union. Although the strike continued for 12 days, the wages will be cut for only two days. The question of recognition of the new union will be a matter for further discussion. The agreement has been reached late night yesterday ie. 16th June between the Haryana Government, Maruti Management and union representatives.
We congratulate the Maruti workers for their determination in fighting to get the retrenched leaders reinstated.

Delhi is burning despite the showers it had in the last two days. The temperature has come down a little but the humidity has gone up like anything. The result is that the people are suffering. This is an annual punishment for the people in the North. But it is hoped that the moonsoon may reach Delhi by the last week of June since it has arrived 3-4 days earlier in Kerala.
We wait for the early moonsoon.

No consensus on Lok Pal Bill between Govt. and Civil Society Members

Lokpal

Even after two-three meetings of the joint committee to draft Lok Pal Bill, difference between civil Society and Government members continue. One major issue is the demand of the Anna Hazare team is that the Prime minister and the Members of Parliament should be included in the Lok Pal Bill. But unfortunately, the government members have a different opinion.
The paradox is that when Bajpayee was the Prime Minister, the Congress including Pranab Mukherjee demanded that Prime Minister should be included and it was accepted by the then Prime Minister. Now that Manmohan Singh is the Prime Minister, Congress is going backward. This shows opportunism. Or is the UPA II government afraid that serious repercussions will be there if the Prime Minister is included in Lok Pal Bill?
Whatever it is, the UPA II is giving a wrong signal.
