The UP MLAs have demanded for Salary/Perks hike. At present it is Rs. 50,000. Most of these MLAs, 271 out of 403, are crorepatis. There is no difference of opinion amongst the various parties in this respect.

The Crorepatis Party wise are: SP (140), BSP (63), BJP (32), Congress (18) and RJD (7).

In addition to the Rs. 50,000, they get a monthly telephone bills of Rs.6,000 and free travel of Rs. 1,25,000. Now they want more.

They compare their situation with foreign countries. ” Our legislators are getting very little salary. In foreign countries, the legislators get good salaries, well maintained offices and efficient staff. Our salary is nothing compared to them”, SP leader Azam Khan is reported to have said. Well said!
